Limiting Inbound Traffic to Microsoft Exchange
The following walk through will show you how to configure your
Microsoft Exchange Server to only
allow communication from Where's My Spam's servers.
NOTE: This method allow you a software-based way
to restrict inbound connections. If you
have a firewall that supports inbound
traffic from a specific IP, this is the recommended method
of allowing traffic only from our server's IP addresses.
These instructions will work with both
Exchange 2000 & 2003.
Walk through for
Exchange 2007 and Novell GroupWise will be available soon.
First, open the Exchange System Manager. Expand the Servers
tab, and drill down to the
Protocols group for your server, then to the SMTP folder. Right-click on the
Virtual Server listed,
and chose Properties.
On the Properties tab, click on the Access tab. Here, click the Connection button:
On the Connection screen, select the option Only the list
below, and click the Add button. Enter the
IP addresses of our spam appliances, which are:
74.202.26.131 (primary device)
207.40.41.133 (backup device)
Then click OK.
Click OK out of all screens, and close the Exchange System
Manager. Your Exchange Server will now only
access email inbound from the Where's My Spam spam prevention service.
